Emily (Niess Portrait)

No, the title isn’t a mistake. Let me explain. I have some under used Hasselblad lenses. I know it’s a shame. They just don’t get used and have been idle for a while. My all time favorite lens, the one I’d like if I only could have one lens is the Carl Zeiss 110mm f2.0 FE. I want to use it a lot more than I do of late. This leads me to the heart f the matter.

While on holiday I purchased a Hasselblad to Nikon adapter (Fotodiox) through Amazon UK so I could get more use from the glass I have. This wonderful piece of engineering (Comes complete in a faux velvet bag.) turns my Nikon D800 into a digital Frankenstein of a camera. Big and, rather odd-looking. I was worried about the strain on the lens mount but the combo doesn’t weigh a lot more compared with the 24-70 I have on the body usually. I haven’t seen or felt any problems as yet. The adapter comes with a tripod mount I however have only used the combination handheld.

I set up the lens in the onboard database for non-CPU lenses the nearest focal length was 135mm. This helps the camera with light measurement and aperture value. Well it would if there was a mechanical aperture connection between adapter, and body, which there isn’t so I’m not sure if there is a point.

Stop down the lens to meter you have focus confirmation if needed in the viewfinder. And take your shot.

But that’s enough talk. Here is what you get.

This is a quick shot I took of my daughter before she went skateboarding.

This has just been converted to black and white with just a little vignette  added. Remember this was handheld.

I like the colour version just as much as the black and white. Although I mostly am a black and white kinda guy I thought I’d share this shop scan with you. I’ve just added the frame.

It’s about time I got Victor out of the bag. This shot is an end of roll shot after a cycling lesson. Taken in colour with a Carl Zeiss 110mm f2.0.

Netley Marsh Steam Rally 08, a set on Flickr.

This past weekend I went to the Netley Marsh Steam Rally. I haven’t had chance to upload anything as yet, so here is a set I did after my last visit in 2008. I’ll post some from this weekend if I get a chance.

The Church of St Laurence. Denmark

The church of St Laurence. Better known to Danes as “Tilsandede Kirke” or Sand buried church. The church has been in existence since the 13th century first recorded mention in 1387.
In 1795 the Danish King Christian VII gave permission for the church to be closed. It could not be protected from the enormous amounts of drifting sand.

The tower itself dates from the 15th century. However it was rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries. Following the demolition of the church the tower was left as a landmark for ships at sea and was whitewashed. The last burial in the church graveyard took place in 1810

One of my fav’s even though Torolf is out of focus I think the picture has something special. From Previous shots:
It didn’t take long before they started clowning around. They were a lot of fun to shoot.

It’s been a busy week on the work and personal front this week so I haven’t had much chance to write much .I would, however like to share this with you all.
On Sunday at a family party I had the pleasure of meeting and having the chance to photograph Torolf Nordbø and his wife Marit. For you non-Norwegians Torolf is best known for his comedy revue work and his music. They have kindly allowed me to publish a couple of the pictures I took of them, and I have linked to a music video starring Torolf ,and well-know Norwegian singer songwriter Rita Eriksen
A big thanks to Torolf and, Marit for being such great sports.

Before the Storm (Black and White)

I couldn’t leave this shot alone. I wanted to see how it would look in black and white. I thought I’d post the result so you can judge for yourselves.

Before the Storm

Todays shot is in colour as you no doubt can see by now. I was going to make a cuppa when I just happened to look out of my kitchen window at a tree in our neigbours driveway. It was just before a stormy squall hit and the light was low and direct. It litt up this tree like a searchlight. I grabbed my camera and managed a couple of rushed shots before it all changed .Which it did, about 10 seconds after this the heavens opened.
