At an Exhibition

With lockdown easing here in Norway it was possible to attend an exhibition of treasures loaned to a local gallery by the closed National Gallery. There were some real Norwegian treasures to look at. A great day out.

Not Drawn

Another shot from my early morning commute. Every now and again I see a black and white photo that looks like it could have been drawn by some artist. Just simple lines on paper. When I got home and saw this shot on a large display I got the that feeling that it had been drawn by my camera. The magic ends when I tell you that it is the remains of an old dock in the local river taken early one foggy morning. So just imagine I painted it instead.

Early mornings

I get up early most days, it’s one of the few advantages of being a boarder line insomniac. It meansI have plenty of time to cycle the 18 km’s to work before the local town is awake or have even thought about waking up.

I’m lucky in that at least nearly a half of my route takes me along the river path where there are lots of things I can record and the weather is never the same.

This Picture was taken at around 04.30 in the morning everything was totally quiet even the ducks were sleeping when I rolled to a stop by this old stone quay.

It was a foggy start that day so there was plenty of atmosphere I took this low shot which a mate said looked like the cover of some new Scandinavian Crime novel. Anyway just to show the difference I took a similar shot next day without fog and a different aperture setting.

Leave a comment and let me know which you like best.

I think I saved the best until last. Tore in his workshop. A real nice guy with a fun loving disposition. He said “If you’re going to take a picture I’ll have to look serious”.

I printed  this shot, as I have the others in this series and given them as a thank-you getting in front of my lens.

I hope you enjoyed the series as much as I enjoyed making and sharing it with you.

I said some weeks ago that I will be getting back to a more analogue way of doing things. This involved me lugging around( with smile on my face I might add) my Hasselblad and a 40mm lens. I did a series of lighthearted – lets call them snaps some years back I called @work. Just taken at work of people I could persuade to get in front of the camera. So this is a repeat of that. Anders is a much better photographer than me so I was pleased he didn’t mind me taking this shot of him during a break.

I little while ago I attend a lecture given by fellow member of society I happen to also be a member of here in Norway. The subject was Scottish Basket hilted swords. I think this shot captures his passion for his subject and, collection .

Hello again.

Autosave-File vom d-lab2/3 der AgfaPhoto GmbH

I’ve been away from my blog for a long time. Time, work and other interests have eaten into the time I had.  I have however posted once a week to the wonderful Monchromia blog. If you haven’t found it yet follow the link. There are many talented photographers there. It’s all run by the nicest man I’ve never met Joe.

My interests lie mostly in film photography but digital has its place. I shot mostly to convert to black and white as that is what I understand best. you’ll find splashes of colour here but not many.

My aim is at least to post once a week or more. so see out there…
